AI Research & Model Engineering
Research that separates evidence from ambition.
We study data quality, model adaptation, evaluation, retrieval, and release engineering for local and controlled AI systems. This library explains the methods, evidence levels, and publication boundaries without exposing restricted data or proprietary implementation.
Methods are labeled. Limits are stated. Plans are not presented as results.
Research Areas
One evidence chain, three focused disciplines.
Datasets & Evaluation Data
Provenance, rights, normalization, de-duplication, leakage controls, frozen evaluation sets, and reproducible dataset releases.
Model Training & Evaluation
Controlled training changes, baseline comparison, bounded canaries, held-out evaluation, artifact lineage, and rollback.
LoRA & Model Distillation
Parameter-efficient adaptation, compatibility requirements, teacher-student methods, release gates, and honest capability boundaries.
A Useful Distinction
Knowledge updates are not weight updates.
Retrieval and durable memory can supply new, attributable facts without retraining the model. Prompt, policy, tool, and workflow changes can improve behavior without changing model weights. LoRA, distillation, and full fine-tuning alter model behavior more deeply and therefore require stronger data, evaluation, compatibility, and rollback controls.
We prefer the least invasive intervention that can solve the measured problem.
Evidence Levels
What our labels mean.
Concept
A method or design under study. It is not evidence that an implementation or result exists.
Implemented workflow
A repeatable process or control exists and has been exercised. It does not establish model quality.
Measured result
A defined artifact was tested against a defined evaluation, with limitations reported alongside the outcome.
Release-qualified
The exact deliverable and serving path passed the required acceptance gates and has a rollback plan.
Current Evidence
What the reviewed materials support today.
Our internal model-development workflow includes reproducible dataset builds, format and assistant-mask validation, bounded finite-loss canary runs, and quarantine of incompatible artifacts.
A successful canary demonstrates pipeline wiring and numerical viability only. It does not prove that a model improved, generalized, or is ready for release.
Publication Boundary
Detailed enough to be useful. Restrained enough to be responsible.
Suitable for publication
- General methods and public-source research
- Evaluation standards and non-sensitive findings
- Aggregate results derived from approved public inputs
- Model cards, limitations, and documented evidence levels
Withheld from publication
- Classified, controlled, customer, or otherwise restricted material
- Credentials, private endpoints, infrastructure details, and system prompts
- Raw private corpora, unpublished evaluation sets, exact training recipes, weights, checkpoints, or adapters
- Operational details or findings that would create avoidable security risk
If provenance, rights, classification, or disclosure risk is uncertain, the material is withheld.
Research With Boundaries
Need a method reviewed against your environment?
We can scope evaluation, data governance, and model-engineering work without presenting internal research access as a customer entitlement.
